The Archangel Sandalphon - Guardian of Prayer and Prince of Heaven - Angelology

In the rich tapestry of angelology, few figures are as mysterious and beloved as Sandalphon. Known as the "Angel of Prayer," Sandalphon holds a unique role among the celestial hierarchy; he is said to gather the prayers of humanity as they rise from Earth and weave them into garlands, presenting them before the throne of God.

Unlike most angels, Sandalphon is believed to have once been human; the prophet Elijah; who was transformed into an angelic being. This makes him a powerful symbol of transformation, spiritual elevation, and the bridge between the earthly and divine realms.

Traditionally paired with his "twin" angel Metatron, Sandalphon is also associated with music, compassion, and the protection of unborn children. His towering presence in Jewish mysticism (Kabbalah) marks him as one of the tallest angels in existence; some texts describe him as so vast that it would take 500 years to walk the distance between his feet and head.

Sandalphon reminds us that prayer is never lost; it is heard, gathered, and carried to the divine with care.
